City of Perth & DLGSC win IPAA Award with Culture Counts

Australian Evaluation Society Award Best Practice in Public Sector Evaluation: 2019 Achievement Award Winners

At last month’s IPAA WA Achievement Awards, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSCI) and the City of Perth took home the Australian Evaluation Society Award for Best Practice in Public Sector Evaluation, for their fantastic collaborative work using Culture Counts.

The awards – presented by the Institute of Public Administration Australia WA (IPAA WA) – promote, recognise and reward excellence in public administration, with the Achievement Awards specifically recognising individual and organisational excellence in public service.

The award acknowledged The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and the City of Perth’s evaluations of the outcomes of arts and cultural activities they fund and assisting them in demonstrating their impact and value.

Culture Counts was used by both organisations to achieve these objectives through the development of a shared outcome evaluation methodology and a consultation process that linked the organisations strategic intentions to that of their funders.

We’d like to reiterate our congratulations to the DLGSC and the City of Perth; and say a sincere thank you to Perth Festival and the West Australian Symphony Orchestra for nominating this shared outcomes initiative.
