Your Free Local Government Benchmark Report FY24–25

In 2024–25, Australian local governments collected 69,000 survey responses from more than 1,500 surveys. 68 regional, metro and capital city councils used the Culture Counts Evaluation Platform to survey their cultural and community events, programs and infrastructure. Using the data we have released an online benchmark report that explores the extensive range of outcomes generated across social, cultural, community, economic and environmental domains and have highlighted the key findings

With over 290,000 dimension responses, the data set provides unparalleled insight into local government impact. Councils can use these results to benchmark and learn from their peers, and set targets for 2025–26 across community engagement, behaviours, experience and outcomes, including:

  • Place: 87% agreed their experience made them feel proud of their local area
  • Safe: 94% agreed their experience made them feel safe and welcome
  • Wellbeing: 89% experienced positive impacts to their physical health and mental wellbeing
