2024 in review

As 2024 wraps up, we want to take a moment to thank you—our valued customers and partners—for making this year so impactful.

Over the past 12 months, Culture Counts users have gathered 261,994 responses across 840 evaluations, helping them learn, make change and grow their impact.

It was also a productive year for the team. We have captured some highlights below.

Product Updates

After a year of numerous launches last year – this year the Product Team shifted its focus to bug fixes and backend infrastructure, preparing for the new features planned for 2025. While major updates are on the horizon for next year, we’re ending 2024 with the announcement of two smaller platform updates.

  • Respondent Templates: our latest templates are tailored to gather feedback from specific stakeholder groups involved in an event, program, or service, such as artists, membership holders, and local businesses.
  • Update to our Question Bank library: we revised the wording of the Gender question to ensure it reflects current best-practice conventions.

Research Milestones

  • Arts and Culture Benchmark Report FY23/24: the inaugural report provided key insights into the outcomes delivered by arts and cultural organisations and contained data from 93,000 survey responses across more than 500 surveys.
  • Local Government Benchmark Report FY23/24: our third Local Government benchmark report was published this year, with local governments collecting 75,000 survey responses from more than 1,360 surveys throughout Australia using the Culture Counts Evaluation Platform.
  • Public Libraries Evaluation Network Annual Report 2024: the project has completed its fifth year with 38 participating libraries collecting 8,100 survey responses across 5 states in Australia.

Events and Education

  • Publication of free resource guides to including: Evaluation Success Guide and Evaluation for Funding Guide.
  • Exhibiting at global conferences including Australian Library & Information Association (ALIA) National Conference and International Society of Performing Arts (ISPA) 2024 Congress.
  • Presenting as a Silver Partner for the Performing Arts WA Awards.

From myself and all of us at Culture Counts, wishing you a safe holiday and a happy New Year.
