We have introduced a new collection of survey templates to the Culture Counts Evaluation Platform, making it even easier to gather useful feedback for arts and cultural organisations.
Running a venue often means juggling a lot at once. You might be managing budgets, planning events, supporting artists, promoting shows and keeping stakeholders informed.
With so much going on, collecting feedback can easily fall down the priority list. But it’s one of the most valuable ways to understand what’s working, what could be improved and how your venue is making an impact.
To make this easier, we’ve created two ready-to-use survey templates designed specifically for venues. They’re simple to set up, easy to customise and help you collect meaningful feedback without starting from scratch.
Understanding Audience Experience
The audience survey template is designed to help you understand how people experience your venue. It focuses on the essentials: what audiences enjoy, what stands out and where things could be improved. Whether it’s feedback on programming, the space itself or the overall experience, the template makes it easier to collect consistent insights over time.
By gathering feedback consistently, you start to build a clearer picture of your impact, from programming and customer experience through to community connection. Over time, these insights make it easier to make informed decisions and strengthen your relationship with your audience.
Learning from Artists and Collaborators
The artist survey template is designed to capture feedback from the creatives and companies you work with. It looks at their experience of collaborating with your venue, the support they received, and the impact the opportunity may have had on their practice.
Importantly, it also provides space to reflect on how venues can improve their processes when working with freelancers and external partners, while also highlighting what’s working well.
Accessing these Templates
When creating a new survey, you can access these templates through the folder list on the left-hand side of the screen. The two new templates sit alongside the Community Facilities template in the Place/Venue Templates folder, which is available to all clients.
All our templates are fully customisable, allowing clients to tailor questions to their specific needs, making them suitable for venues and organisations of all sizes.
Why Feedback Matters
Collecting feedback from both audiences and artists provides a more complete view of a venue’s impact. It helps to validate successes, uncover blind spots and guide future planning. In some cases, it may even reveal unexpected insights that can shape new ideas or approaches.
